It’s almost parade day here in York, and Mary Yeaple (Twitter’s @paradelady) stopped by the office to chat about Saturday’s big event.
There’s a lot on tap for the 29th annual York Saint Patrick’s Day Parade. While the actual parade begins at 1 p.m. on Market and Penn streets, there are events as early as 8 a.m. at locations along the parade route.
And there are special promotions and entertainment at many downtown businesses throughout the entire day.
A few highlights include:
• A 15 percent discount for anyone wearing green Saturday at Kimman’s (57 N. Beaver St.)
• Free green honey stick for kids (while supplies last) at Dawg Gone Bees (inside Central Market)
• Music by Irish Blessing at Mudhook Brewing Co. (34 N. Cherry Lane)
• Dancers from McGinley School of Irish Dance from 11:30 a.m. to 12 noon at Martin Library (159 E. Market St.)
• A 20 percent discount off purchases of $25 or more at Growing Up Green (266 W. Market St.)
To view a full list of of entertainment and merchant promotions, visit the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade website.
While Yeaple said there’s not a bad seat in the city to watch the parade along Market Street, you can see a map of the route, parking restrictions and street closures on the parade website.
